I love our wood floors, but the carpet-remnant shag rug from Home Depot has seen better days. We don't have any money to replace it, but I love browsing around dreaming of something prettier and more colorful.

Anyone have any great sources for modern rugs?
Your choices are beautiful. Sometimes, Target's Dwell Studio has something or check with Home Goods.
ReplyDeleteOk so not to be all "look at me!" but I too wanted a great rug but didn't have the funds so I painted one and I really love it. The grand total was $36. Check it out...I could totally see this being done with a cool graphic design and a pattern drawn on contact paper (or just tape like we did).

We just picked up this fella for the nursery: http://www.target.com/Room-Essentials-Bright-Rug-Black/dp/B003T2MCIO It was originally $79.99 but we happened to walk by the clearance aisle and see that they had a couple that had been repackaged for $55. Score!
ReplyDeleteAnd we're giving thought to picking this one up for the living room (also on clearance!): http://www.target.com/Room-Essentials-Bright-Vines-Rug/dp/B003T2O4FI
Miggy - Thanks for sharing your tutorial! Adore the finished look - going faded was inspired. I've known about painting rugs but have always wondered about the paint-stiffness factor, so it's nice to hear some information on that. I was thinking the same thing - that Melancholy could perhaps find a great blue rug and paint the white bird tracks on it. They don't take a massive amount of space so maybe they hardness of the paint wouldn't be that noticeable. Or maybe fabric paint would be more pliable? Worth experimenting on a remnant I think.
ReplyDeleteAnd Jennifer, cool rug!
Miggy- I remember you making that rug! it's been on my mind, though I want SO MUCH color, I'm thinking of using fabric dye and then painting the pattern on top...
ReplyDeleteJennifer- I just saw those rugs at Target! They're awesome, good choice. That's always one bright spot in pregnancy-- the excuse to furnish and decorate a nursery. :)
Mom- I had the same thought about using fabric paint for the bird tracks instead of a stiffer paint. Wish you were here to help me experiment.
Thank you so much for sharing this informative post. Really i got exact information what i was searching Blue Rug to know about our service.
