The Latest

Despite staying up til 2 a.m. last night, I woke up happy this morning. The early morning breeze wafting through the windows carry a hint of coolness {finally!} and I feel energized to take on projects. Good timing-- the older kids are at 'school' today, and the two younger ones are content {Baby R is grinning even though his sister put bows in his hair}. With a little luck, I just might get a few things accomplished.

I bought this navy blue lamp at an Antique store for $5. It's HUGE. I'm updating it with a drum shade, which I plan on covering with one of these fabrics. {The one draped over the shade is my favorite, but I may not have enough.}

I'm sewing up a storm {which is why I was up so late last night} and hope to finish a skirt and a dress today. I really wish I'd use an actual pattern one of these days. Making it up as I go along results in some interesting products, often revealing how much I'm NOT Project Runway material.

I bought this laminated wall map online, and the dang company keeps sending it in a plastic bag. No cardboard tube or anything! Naturally, it keeps arriving creased and wrinkled. Even the UPS man was flabbergasted and apologetic. I'm going to try ironing it this afternoon, otherwise it's going back. AGAIN.

Perhaps I spoke too soon regarding getting things done... Baby R is already starting to fuss and cling to my skirt. Perhaps I'll just give him his favorite bottle of hooch-- maple syrup. He's a sugar addict, that one. :)

  1. I'd heard it's finally starting to cool down there! Your baby is a doll. Can't wait to see what you've sewn up.

  2. Can wait to see what you do with the map. My middle guy has a big laminated wall map in his room.

    I would love to recover a lamp shade or two. Is it easy?

    I'm ready for a fashion show of your sewing projects.
