We left the coast and headed inland towards Sacramento. Jared was eager to tour the California Railway Museum, which is one of the largest and most well done museum of its kind.
After picking up a nasty cold while camping, I was eager to sleep in a soft bed, do some laundry and enjoy access to wifi.
Unfortunately, the next leg of our journey was a long haul to Yosemite, which meant J and the kids were literally running through the museum so we could hit the road at a decent hour.
They could have used an entire afternoon to read about exhibits, explore, and play with the model trains. But they made the best of it and we started driving once more....
We live in Roseville, just north of Sac and members of the Train Museum. That place is GREAT!! We go all the time and, best of all, the kids LOVE it! The best time to go is over Labor Day weekend, when Old Sac has its gold rush days and people are dressed in period clothing, there are tents set up with different period items and stores, including a tent set up for the Mormon Battalion. They cover the road in sand/dirt, do not allow cars to drive in there, and only have transportation via horses. It makes for a great field trip for the kids, plus they have "gun" fights in the middle of the street. So fun!!
