My Little Linus

All of my children have loved blankets. Each of them has become attached to at least one special blanket, which they drag around with them throughout their toddler years {bringing to mind the character Linus from the Peanuts cartoons}.

My daughter likes crocheted blankets, letting her fingers become entangled in the web of yarn. E. likes chenille, rubbing it over his face as he falls asleep. The baby likes silk, and is especially drawn to the satin tags found on both blankets and stuffed animals. He seeks them out, letting his tongue loll around them, exploring the texture.

So when I first saw Taggie blankets at a local boutique, I immediately thought of baby L. I was, however, unwilling to shell out $25 dollars for what amounted to a scrap of fuzzy material with ribbons along the edge. Instead, bought a remanent of incredibly soft chenille and a spool of satin ribbon, then sewed a Taggie of my own. I think the baby likes it, and it cost less than $7.

Taggie Blanket mid-project.

hi there! delurking to say: i'd be careful about posting about the taggie products. a blog friend of mine told me that she was contacted by the creator of the products who was irrate because she posted a how-to on her blog...i had posted a how-to on my blog so she emailed me to warn me. apparently the creator threatened to contact her lawyer for copyright issues. we both weren't selling our creations and it's not like we crafters can't figure out how to sandwich ribbon between fabrics!

great idea. I see nothing wrong with making it yourself. it's perfect. my daughter loves blankets, any blanket :) it's probably cuz i'm a big blanket person--I hate being cold & almost always have one or two extra soft blankets around even in the car.

your son is adorable. he makes a cute linus.

Pinktrees: thanks for the warning. Hopefully, I won't be contacted about the taggie stuff. I haven't the heart to delete this post unless I'm actually threatened. :)

Spyglass: Such a compliment! {especially coming from you! Your photos are amazing.} I use a Canon 20D 17-85 mm lens. For these photos, I took them in front of our glass patio doors so I could use natural light. I don't really know what I'm doing- I just wing it, and am REALLY grateful for digital! It makes taking 1000 bad photos to get that 1 good one much more affordable. :)
