Read Along

Recently, I joined a book club. It was started by some fabulous women in my ward, and I look forward to it every month even though after every meeting I become paralyzed with the fear that I've said something stupid, talked too loudly or revealed too much, thus alienating myself forevermore. {That's the problem with socializing. Suddenly, I have to develop social skills.}

Last month, we read The Glass Castle, a book rich with topics to discuss, and one of my all time favorites. Today, I'm starting My Stroke of Insight for this month's meeting. Want to join me? I'll try not to talk too much.

Love that picture.

And oh how I'd love to join a book club! Except for the part about the social skills I lack. There's a reason blogging is my interaction of choice. . .

You are too silly. I think most of us (the ones that are normal anyway) have the same exact fears. I always talk too much and too loudly when I am uncomfortable or nervous!

I was in a book club last year (now I haven't been doing much leisure reading besides blogs during work) bu we read the Glass Castle too. I must say my emotions were really mixed. I think it hit too close to home for me. At least the mom behaving the way she did. Uggh. I admire the author's work - but I can't say I love it. I guess I would feel the same should I ever write my own story!

I watched the Jane Austen Book Club (movie) while I was sick - I really loved it (despite the romantic scenes - eww) Jane Austen is my favorite and I always relate myself to her characters - it was fun to see the characters int he movie do the same. I recommend it if you enjoy Jane Austen!
