We're spending the morning watching the inauguration. When Little Miss C heard that it was to take place at the Capitol in Washington, she exclaimed, "I've been there! I walked there with Grandpa and ate Cheetos and had lunch in the cafeteria!" I had to explain that this was the one in Washington DC, not Washington State.
As part of her homeschooling assignment, Little Miss C will be writing a letter to our new President. As we sit in front of the TV, she has filled the time with questions about Presidency and {numerous} comments on what the women are wearing. She says Michelle Obama looks 'pretty and sparkly.' Trust my daughter to notice the fashion!

What an awesome school day! Colt and Pip are going to be happy that you posted on your blog. They can't leave the house with the new baby so they are constantly checking the family sites, Melancholy Smile, and S P Y G L A S S hoping for something new and exciting :) Colt kept trying to get the texting feature to work so he could text you back - we took a picture of his frustration.
It's too bad you had to spoil the illusion of her having been to the White House with grandpa....
Tell Little Miss C if she ever wants to come to the Washington DC Capitol, there's a dragonfly who lives only 40 minutes away and would love to give her and her grandpa the grand tour . . . with Cheetos, of course.
I spent the morning in my son's 1st grade classroom, and his wonderful teacher turned it on for the kids to watch. It was good to see their excitement for this grand tradition in our country. Unfortunately, the feed wasn't great, so we missed a lot of it. Thankfully, I DVR'd it, so that is what I will be doing this afternoon...along with loads and loads of laundry ;)
Apparently Miss C is as good as the best of them, the evidence is here in this quote from a New York Time's piece:
"First Fashion was a hit. No, not Barack. We're talking about the Obama women: First lady Michelle Obama wowed the crowds in a SPARKLY yellow-gold sheath dress..."
She just calls it as she sees it :)
