Chanel Spring '09

It's easy to look at runway fashion as bordering on the ridiculous, especially the Haute Couture collections, but I like to think of it as an artistic performance. With that in mind, I really love Chanel's spring show. I like cut paper sculpture, and those cut-paper headpieces are amazing. The stark black and white: stunning. And I would totally wear this look:

I loved looking at these. Are you tall? I can't wear some stylish trends because I am short. When I wore skinny jeans with boots a year or so ago, DH said I looked like a pirate. And if I wore the dress in the picture, I would look I was dressing up like a baby doll! Oh well, we all have to realize our limits.

I do love that dress, and I LOVE black and white. So classy, no matter the style.

Not only are these outfits amazing in an architectural sense - they are also amazingly modest . . . for runway fashion! Yay Chanel!

Ohio12- No, I don't consider myself to be tall. I'm about 5 ft 5 in, but I wear high heels constantly. On some things, I agree-- it's good to know our limitations. But then again, we're only young once, right? If I can't wear skinny jeans or white trousers or preposterous cut-paper hats now, then when can I? So I try to allow myself some liberties. Life is just more enjoyable that way. :)

what a good reminder. I have a couple big events coming up and I may just have to get outside my comfort zone a little!
