We have 6 varieties of tomatoes in our garden, and have been watching eagerly as the 1 lb Burger Tomatoes have grown larger and larger. Yesterday, we discovered that the chickens have also been eyeing them. They had pecked each tomato from its stem and hollowed out it's juicy contents! The only evidence that remained were a few sad looking skins. Needless to say, we're spending Memorial Day erecting chicken-wire fences around the gardens. :)

Oh, those rascally chickens! I hope they lay better eggs for it AT LEAST! Sheesh. I'm mourning the loss of your 1 lb. Burger Tomatoes (YUM!)
Everyone I know who has chickens has learned the hard way with their garden. I am sorry for your loss. It feels just wrong.

Wow! And we thought the caterpillars were bad! We've had quite a few good tomatoes, I am so amazed...Now we have a month vacation in Utah/Colorado and I'm worried our garden won't be there when we get back!!! Good luck with those chickens!
