Surviving

We've managed to survive 5 days without J around. I'm no longer bursting into tears every few minutes, but taking three small children to church by myself did feel like the hardest thing I've done this year.

The kids have been great. They were quite content with our low-key Independence Day, especially once I busted out the glow sticks and smores. We drove to an empty dirt lot to watch fireworks in the distance, and though they weren't as grand or loud as we've grown accustomed to, it was better than nothing. They were in bed by 10 pm and I spent the whole next day recovering. :)

Now I'm wrapped up in little nesting projects. I saved most of them for these last few weeks, hoping they'd help distract me. Unfortunately, I forgot that I wouldn't have the digital camera while J was gone, so I've been using old fashioned film {!!} meaning you won't get all the cool before and after photos until I develop it.

Which I will. Soon. Hopefully.

Now, I'm off to do some spray painting. In a well-ventilated area, of course. :)

Nothing like a few projects to take your mind off. Man, your daughter is a little mini-you - super cute!

You're such a good mommy. Sure wish I lived somewhere near so I could babysit for you. :)

That's not surviving! That's thriving!! Your Independence Day sounds just right. Love the cake, and PROJECTS? At this stage? You are amazing! (can't wait for pics.)

So glad to read the you pulled off some great July 4thness for you cute kiddos.

After two weeks of family reunioning I pretty much did nothing on the 4th except church, read and sleep. My hubby joined Dragonfly to watch fireworks....I was worn out and just plain lame on the 4th.

Can't wait to see your nesting creativity.....film what's that?

Yes, my sister in law just posted a blog about her husband being out of town for a week and all the things she'd do if she were a single mom, or rather resort to...let's just say this is my life since we got married and started med school:). Not to complain but all those times I judged moms before I had kids are rehashed over and over as I break every one of my "i'll never do that" thoughts. And with my husband J on the stand every Sunday or on call, I don't think we've made it on time to church in the last 2 years nor sat through the whole meeting without some embarrassing outbreak and quick escape...this will be worth it in the long run, right!!!?

PS you're way ahead of me on the great cake and attempting to take the kids out for fireworks alone:). Way to go! I think this 3 kids thing is doing me in!!!
