Reading Corner

I'm starting to think we must live in a cave. No matter how many windows I open or lights I turn on, pictures only seem to turn out {with this camera} if I use a flash! I hate flash photography.

Anyway, here's the reading/nursing corner. I'm so in love with the chair. It's large enough to cuddle in next to a toddler. It's soft enough to sleep in. And it's slipcovered! Right now the chenille is off-white, but once we're past the spitting-up-baby-stage, I may buy or sew a pure white linen cover.

Also, it was simple to add a small side table {$10.00 at Ross!} and a soft throw in order to warm it up.

The photographs are enlargements of two stock images by Rodney Smith. I love his style- quirky, but still grown-up.

It's nice to look at this half of our previously-empty bedroom and see it transformed. It works so well as a 'nursery' for the baby, but will easily be functional once we switch back to an adult-only space.

I also sewed a pillow out of the left-over fabric from the swing cover, but it looked better on the bed than on the chair. I had an older, odd-shaped pillow that I cut open to use the stuffing-- it was filled with down, and we're STILL finding feathers all over the place. It was like one of those TV pillow fights with feathers floating in the air. :)

Hmm. This picture makes me want to make a headboard..... Maybe after the baby is born.

What a happy space for a baby! What's the color on your walls?

You've really got a knack for this sorta thing.

I really enjoy seeing what you come up with -- maybe it'll be an inspiration to me to get off my butt and start working on our nursery :)

So many clever nesting projects and the results are fantastic. Love the clouds and bird mobile, the new chair looks so comfy and the perfect place to snuggle into for you and the new baby.
