Pin Curls

I experimented with pin curls yesterday. I started out with washed, towel dry hair and pinned all the ringlets to my head using these flat clips:

I bought a box of them at Sally's for about $5. After tying a scarf around my ringleted-cap {and enduring some funny looks from husband and kids} I slept on them until dry. In the morning, I removed the clips to reveal this:

Poodle head! It turns out that with a lot of brushing, one can mold the curls into all kinds of hair styles. I tried a bunch of different ones-- 60's flip with a headband, 40's victory rolls, Marilyn Monroe pouf and Jackie Kennedy helmet. By the end of the day, this is what it looked like:

{ignore the dirty bathroom mirror, please.} Now, after sleeping on it again, it's STILL curly and malleable. While working with curly hair is still new and difficult for me, I think this experiment bears repeating.

I like the extra curly. Do that with a cute headband for a date night.

I could not see your dirty bathroom mirror due to my dirty computer screen, so no worries there.

I'd love to see how the victory rolls work. I always had curly hair, but lost it with the third baby. So now I feel kind of blah, so it's fun to see this.

Is it weird that my favorite shot is of your wet hair in the pins before bed? Not that it doesn't look awesome in all the others, but there is some great texture going on in that shot! I watched the entire pin curl video you linked to and thought that girl really had it going on, but I would never have enough patience to take that long on my hair.

Way to go! how long did it take? Maybe I'll have to experiment myself and on my daughter:). love the pink tree, too! Our girl would be in heaven! And yes, then we'd have to buy a "boy" tree as well:). Glad you're enjoying the holidays!

Oh, you did it! Awesome. Wondering how many minutes/hours it took in the end?
