I want to go to there.

I just finished perusing the latest Lonny Magazine. The article on Lizzie Bailey's apartment was my favorite. How couldn't it be? Stripes, houndstooth, zigzags, black and white and grey with just a touch of turquoise or yellow! Fab-u-lous.

I like her budget approach as well. She advocates using inexpensive staples {hello Ikea and thrift stores!} then adding your own touch with accessories. I love that chair she uses as a nightstand! I'm gonna steal that idea.

And I have a fondness for oversized branches used as flower arrangements. I'd try it in my own entryway, but my kids would never leave it alone. :(

Side note: Looking at this bright, immaculate apartment reminds me of my housekeeping misadventures of this week. On Tuesday, I was curled on the couch wearing pajamas and a large blanket while reading a book. The house was a disaster. Imagine cereal cemented to the table top, crumbs and petrified macaroni scattered on the floor, laundry piled in a basket in the living room waiting to be folded, and a sink full of dishes. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Turns out, I had completely forgotten about a luncheon/meeting being held at my house that afternoon! The first lady to arrive instantly comprehended my situation and volunteered to sweep the floor while I got dressed. I called in Little Miss C to scrub the table and countertops while I dashed upstairs to get presentable. As each additional lady arrived, she picked up a broom or a washcloth and got to work. By the time the YW President arrived, the place was spotless and I was enormously grateful albeit a bit embarrassed. Ah well. My mom says it's healthy for me to have revealed the reality of my life instead of displaying a perfect front, and good for the others to have seen my humanity. Plus, I got some free housecleaning. :)

Exuisite apartment! Hilarious story. I too am guilty of keeping up the illusion of cleanliness, only to be caught in my true grimey state everyone once in a while! :)

That's a great trick...I'm totally going to do that next time I have a meeting scheduled at my house!

And I like the apartment too. :)

I'm going to schedule a meeting just for this purpose! Although it would probably backfire.

What a pretty space - I've been twitching to paint all the bookshelves in our hallways white, but I think I'll have to do it on the sly since my husband likes them natural.

Those women loved you all the more having seen your house in its natural state.

Snappy apartment. So crisp.
