We rushed home from the store with a half gallon of ice cream melting in the trunk. The minute we were in the door, the children hovered around my feet like eager baby birds, anxiously watching as I scooped out the perfectly soft portions into ice cream cones. As they sat around the table, eyes gleaming, little faces covered in chocolate, content and amazed at the random fortune that had allowed them to eat desert in the middle of the day {before lunch!} I thought to myself-- now this is a good day.
I didn't need a cone. I ate straight from the container. :)

Oh yes. That's the life!
What a lovely picture. Well, the photo, too, but I meant the picture you gave in the story.
It reminded me of a few years ago when Evie and David were much younger and we were visiting my sister in the states. There was a little bit of ice cream left in a box and I was eating it when Ev and David came asking for some. They stood around my feet looking up with mouths open for the next spoonful and I called them my little birds and told them they had to squawk for it. :)
love that you had a good day! i could see those little cuties all hovered around like baby birds.
